We hold observing sessions outside the Westwood House Hotel, weather permitting, after our monthly meetings, and occasionally from a dark site to the west of Galway City. Here we use large powerful telescopes to view the planets and various deep sky objects including galaxies, nebulae and star clusters.
Observing Sites The society uses several observing sites, although most observing sessions take place at Renville Park, Oranmore, Tra Salin on the main road past Spiddal, The "old bog road" on the Spiddal-Moycullen Rd and some exceptionally dark places near Maam Cross in Connemara. Check our Forum regularly for updates on club observing sessions.
